A Sunnier Day on the East Side of the World

What a beautiful day it was today in Vienna. I can’t believe how bright and sunny it stayed all day, and I was worried about getting cold in my dress. No need for that after today, I think I got a foot tan, (thanks TOMS). Any ways, we started our day out once again early, but for a different reason. We went through the Naschmarkt, to get to the Flea Market… small description: a big garage sale. I think everyone that was there, brought out everything from their house and decided it was good to sell. You could definitely bargain at these places, but there was so much random stuff, I couldn’t even buy things, because it was that moment of “would I ever use this?” No, So I kept on walking…We headed to the Belvedere Palace, (did my presentation on this palace as well), so I was excited to see it. Wow is all I can say, what a fantastic view of the palaces (upper and lower), and how amazing the scene was. It was more than what the pictures could do, but I’ll show them to you anyways. It was truly amazing to see it. This set of a palace was turned into a museum, and the Upper Belvedere palace held the Klimt masterpiece “The Kiss”. I would have taken a picture if I could have, but of course it is too famous to display on my blog Winking smileDSCN3148Upper BelvedereDSCN3153Fountains at the BelvedereDSCN3154Grounds in-between the Upper and Lower BelvedereWe headed to a very authentic Austrian restaurant, where everything was in German and the lady didn’t speak English, but we did everything we could to understand her, and vise versa. Lets just say it made for a very entertaining lunch. Then we walked and got on the train to get to our last destination the MAK. Ooh how I love the new taste in scenery. It was amazing to look at things other than paintings for a change. No offense to art history majors, or any there of, but the MAK is more modern and a more accessible change in scene. Different rooms with different tastes; chairs, china, textiles, metals, mini houses, innovative chairs and desks, etc. Definitely had me staying there more than the other museum.(No pictures allowed)Anyways, to end the day with the group we went to go get our daily gelato, and tastes of flavors. I got 3 this time: cheesecake, banana, and hazelnut.Yum, yum, yum, I became a happy camper after that (Amy can attest). Finished up the day with a walk by the canal, and ice cream in my tummy Smile Time to rest my feet!Schoenbrunn Palace tomorrow!!! (and I get to sleep in! Smile)P.S. for all you student travelers in the summer, don’t forget your student I.D.!!! Student discounts at some museums! Like the Belvedere (I forgot mine)DSCN3156 This is what happens…DSCN3170 Saw this by the Canal Smile Haha they have a weird thing about bunnies though….
