Big 2-1 in Venezia

The Peggy Guggenheim museum had a lot of famous paintings in it that I was grateful to have seen, such as: Picasso, Max Ernst, Salvador Dali, Jackson Pollock, etc. It was a very interesting museum set up, seeing as how it was in a person’s house, hence the name… Peggy Guggenheim.I bought the famous Venetian masks yesterday, and a few other souvenirs for family. Now, I only knew that they had a big masquerade carnival here in Venice every year and that’s why their were masks everywhere. Many were very intrinsic and embellished, and of course hand made in Italy. So it was a good enough souvenir for me to buy and I will forever know that it was made in Italy. But there is also more history behind the famous masks and I was lucky enough to look it up after I got mine.100_2527Up close of my green mask… you know I had to have a green one Smile100_2529Does it look creepy? You can’t tell if I’m smiling or not….Here are a few websites to look at to find out the history: http://touritaly.org/tours/venice/venice07.htmhttp://www.maskitalia.com/maskhistory.htmAnd here are some different versions: DSCN3554DSCN3555DSCN3556100_2356It’s a very interesting read, from how it all started to what it has become to today. I’ve also loved the fact that the main island has no cars or bikes for transportation, the only source of transportation are the vaporettos (water buses), and that it literally is the city in the water. Its been sinking for awhile, and you can definitely tell the difference between times of high-tide and low-tide. Its amazing to view and watch the city throughout the day, I love it, without all the lights around on all the buildings at night. We took a night water bus around the city and it was so relaxing, and honestly, a great way to bring in my birthday.Headed to the beach today on my birthday, to relax and it turns out the Mediterranean beach was very very windy and the sand was going everywhere, not what I had planned, but none the less, walked along and in the Mediterranean beach for my birthday.Limoncello liquor: suppose to be famous in Venice… very strong but good, Amy and I are still working on it. SmileI do have to say I finished the night to my 21st birthday pretty well, and I remembered it all. Good company, and great memories Smile
